For years – decades, actually – MLS notoriously had the strongest home field advantage of any league in the world. Or at least any league that anyone paid attention to. And folks loved to act like it was a mystery.
It was not a mystery. It was, in fact, a very easily explained phenomenon. There were clear reasons why things here were/are different from things over there.
